Today's Q&A for Jiayee (30 Sep 2020)

How do you get out of a rut?

A “rut” is “a habit or pattern of behaviour that has become dull and unproductive but is hard to change”. (Oxford Languages).

Start small. Materialise the plan for your adjustments (e.g. make a planning sheet). Maintain regularity and discipline on these small adjustments until you are comfortable. Always be conscious and bring yourself back whenever you find yourself losing discipline. Make further adjustments. Repeat the above steps until it’s gone.

I wanted a healthy lifestyle. I first started with an apple a day. Then, I made a schedule which contained my ideal morning routine, evening bath time and sleep time. I set alarms, and I’m always aware of the time. I started sleeping earlier and getting up earlier. I exercised. I got to eat my second apple every day now.
